Welcome to Homeroom, class! Once upon a not so distant time ago, we celebrated "Columbus Day" on the second Monday of each October. Today, many Americans commemorate that day as Indigenous Peoples' Day. Why the change? Well, we started rethinking what we thought we knew and what we wanted to celebrate about our country's history. Howard Zinn was a major force propelling us to do so with his 1980 book, A People’s History of the United States: 1492 – Present. And Howard Zinn changed much more than that for all of us who study history in this country. Today, Dr. Tim and Dr. Johnny share how Howard Zinn's philosophy guides them.
