WISCONSIN (CIVIC MEDIA) – Wisconsin officially gets a new Supreme Court Justice Friday, August 1.

Justice-elect Susan Crawford will be sworn in as Justice Ann Walsh Bradley’s term ends. Crawford won against Brad Schimel in the most expensive state Supreme Court race in American history.  The race was seen by many analysts as a referendum on the early actions of President Donald Trump’s new administration, as well as former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk, who poured millions of dollars into the race for Schimel.

The court will still have a 4-3 liberal majority after Crawford is sworn in. The ceremony is Friday, August 1, at 4:30 p.m.

Next year, Justice Rebecca Bradley is up for re-election. She’s one of the court’s three conservative justices. Democrat Chris Taylor has already announced she’s running for the seat. If Taylor wins next year, that will mean the court has a five to two majority; if Bradley wins, the court will maintain its 4-3 liberal majority.
