Stolen Grave Markers Recovered
WAUTOMA, Wis (WAUH)-The Fox Crossing Police Department suspect a 58-year-old Lamartine man of stealing six cast iron grave markers.
The 150-year-old markers were reported stolen from St. Patrick’s Cemetery in May. The subsequent investigation traced one cross to a Facebook Marketplace post that lead to Bradley Bloch. Evidence placed Bloch near the cemetery during the thefts.
Over the past several months all six crosses were traced back to various online buyers in Wisconsin and Illinois. The crosses were recovered but remain with Police until it is decided whether they will be used in court or not. One cross was found in Bloch’s front yard.
Each cross is about four-feet tall and weighs nearly100 pounds. They are valued at $10,000 to $15,000 each. Bloch was taken into custody at the end of August. He is charged with one felony count of theft of movable property valued from $10,000 to $100,000. His initial appearance in Winnebago County Court is scheduled for October 6th.
