Flashback: July 1996

For this weeks Flashback Friday, we’ll be going back to 1996. This was the summer after I graduated from high school and was preparing to head to UW- Superior that fall. You’d think I would have fond memories of those last, care-free moments before heading off on my own. The reality – I don’t remember a thing! Did I have a job? How did I spend my evenings? I don’t even remember if I had a car! Best years of our lives? Not for me, apparently.

Something else I didn’t remember anything about was Paul Brandt. He appears on our Flashback Friday countdown at #5 this week with “My Heart Has A History” and his name was unfamiliar. To be sure, I was not really into country at that time, but I did keep abreast of what was going on (I had to; my sister insisted on playing the darn stuff!) He’s Canadian and still is big in his native country, but didn’t really build much on his early success in the US. Yet in the summer of 1996, his songs played across radio stations throughout North America. Or so I’m told. I don’t seem to remember.
