Fatal Accident in Fond du Lac County

RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- One driver died, and another was injured in a head-on collision in Fond du Lac County Tuesday afternoon.

Multiple 911 calls reported the crash on U.S. Highway 151 near Thill Road just before 12:30. According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, two Dane County Sheriff’s deputies on a transport assignment saw the collision and stopped to render aid to the two victims.

An 81-year-old Sun Prairie woman died at the scene, and a 59-year-old Waupun man was taken to St. Agnes Hospital with serious injuries.

The preliminary investigation found the woman was heading south on Highway 151 and may have suffered a medical emergency. Her vehicle crossed the grass median into northbound lanes and struck the vehicle the Waupun man was driving. In trying to avoid the collision, the Waupun man sideswiped another northbound vehicle. No one in that vehicle was injured.

In addition to Sheriff’s deputies, the State Patrol, Oakfield Fire Department, Oakfield EMS and LifeStar Ambulance responded to the scene in the town of Oakfield.
