Trucker Injured in Fond du Lac County Crash
RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say a 60-year-old New Holstein man was seriously injured when his semi-tractor and trailer went into a ditch early this morning.
A 911 call reported the accident at 1:41 a.m. near U.S. Highway 151 northbound and the ramp to South Main Street in the town of Fond du Lac.
When a sheriff’s sergeant arrived, two good Samaritans were trying to help the driver. The impact of the crash sent large bales of paper through the front of the trailer, burying the driver underneath.

The driver was transported to St. Agnes Hospital and subsequently flown to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah with serious injuries.
Investigators say the semi was heading north and attempted to exit from U.S. Highway 151 to South Main Street. The driver didn’t slow down in time to safely make the turn onto the off ramp. The truck continued into the ditch causing the load of large bales of paper to slide through the front of the trailer, causing significant damage to the cab of the semi.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue, Town of Fond du Lac Fire Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
