Blog
I have often mentioned on this blog that 1967 is the best year ever for popular music. It was a time for many new artists that have become icons over the years. During this Saturday nights Those Were the Days radio show, I will stop and park for a time with a few glorious AM radio classics. A few years back, I chose my desert island favorites. The songs that I would take with me if I ever was stranded. Hopefully the Professor could keep my boom box batteries charged so that I could listen to music with Ginger and Mary Ann. The number one song on my list was Light My Fire by the Doors. It is the tune that I never tire of. It was number one this weekend in 1967. Another one near the top of the survey was I Was Made to Lover Her by Stevie Wonder. That is still my favorite of all of Stevie’s many hits. This chart has songs from the Turtles, Rascals, Aretha Franklin, and many more.
I hope you will join us for the best of the fifties through the early nineties’ music Saturday night on WRCO FM 100.9, WRCO.com or the Civic Media app. We will be blowing out the speakers you bought at the thrift store between six and midnight. Thanks to everyone that made my return to live shows last week so special. I appreciate the fact that there are folks out there that appreciate local radio and old school shows where you can call and talk to the d.j. We will keep the light on for you Saturday night.
