Friday, August 15

The City of Richland Center is repaving the municipal parking lot at Church and East Court Streets. Intermittent “No Parking” signs will be posted throughout the area during reconstruction. Please plan accordingly and watch for posted signage.

During the month of August the Ocooch Mountain Humane Society will be participating in Clear the Shelters, an event hosted by NBC to help get shelter pets into loving homes.

A Fundraiser RUMMAGE SALE will be hosted by the Richland County Right to Life, LLC group at the Park Street Christian Church on Friday, August 15 from 9:00a until 6:00p and Saturday, August 16 from 9:00a until 1:00p. Kokoro Workshop: A Holistic Approach to Well-being will be held from 12:30p Friday through 5:00p Sunday, August 15-17, at the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center for ages 18 and over. Join Professor Kimiko Gunji and curator Tim Gruner at Taliesin for a weekend exploring the Japanese concept of Kokoro. Experience authentic activities like tea ceremonies in Frank Lloyd Wright’s living room, calligraphy sessions in his drafting studio, and outdoor mindfulness exercises. The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), Scenic Hills Chapter, Hunting Heritage Guns and Bingo Banquet will be held Friday, August 15 at The Phoenix Center, Richland Center. Doors will open at 5:00p and the meal will be served at 6:30p. There will be bingo, a raffle, a speaker and discussion about NWTF throughout the evening. The Southwest WI Pullers Hub City Truck & Tractor Pull will be held Friday, August 15, starting at 6:30p, at Mick Memorial Park in Hub City. Cost of admission is $5 and free for kids 12 & under. Hot homemade food and cold drinks will be available at the event.

Saturday, August 16

A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held Saturday, August 16, from 8:00a to 1:00p at St. Peter’s Luthean Church in Loganville. Appointments are preferred by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or go online to redcrossblood.org.

The Little Lamb’s Closet, held at Park Street Christian Church, sponsored by the Richland County Right to Life, is open the third Saturday of the month starting at 9:30a. Please use the Park Street entrance.

Free milk and cheese is available the third Saturday of each month from 9:30a until gone at Park Street Christian Church. Use the Seminary Street entrance.

Caz Burgers in the Park will be held Saturday, August 16, from 11:00a to 3:00p at Cazenovia Memorial Park. Enjoy hand-pattied burgers and fries as well as pies for dessert. Happy hour will be held from 11:00a to Noon and a bean bag tournament will be held at Noon. All proceeds will go to Auxiliary Post 491 for scholarships, youth, and community projects.

There will be a Poolside Block Party Saturday, August 16, from 11:00a until 5:00p, on Court Street in Richland Center. The community event will feature food, ice cream trucks and live music performances. There will also be a dunk tank with proceeds going to Richland Area Rescue, animals to interact with, local vendors and games with prizes.

The Third Annual picnic for past Ray O Vac employees will be Saturday, August 16, at Noon, at Bakers Field in Wonewoc. Bring a dish to pass and your own drink.

The Richland Singers Community Choir will host a concert titled “When You Believe” Saturday, August 16, at 4:00p in the Richland Center High School Auditorium. Admission is free.

Sunday August 17

The 21st Annual 4PeteSake will be held Sunday, August 17, at Veterans Park in Spring Green. The day will begin with a 5k Run/Walk and 15 or 30 mile Bike ride and a pickleball tournament at 8:00a, music will begin at 11:00a, food and refreshments will be available from 11:00a to 6:00p, and a silent auction will be held from 11:00a to 5:00p. The day also includes an old fashion cakewalk.

First Lutheran Church in Lone Rock will host Cowboy Church featuring Monty Berger Sunday, August 17, at 8:30a. Everyone is welcome.

Students Standing Strong will host a Brat Stand Sunday, August 17, from 11:00a to 2:00p in the Richland Community Center parking lot. All proceeds and donations will support the Richland Community Food Pantry, helping local families in need. Guests are encouraged to “pay” for their meal with either canned goods or a monetary donation. Students Standing Strong (S3) is a student-driven organization focused on faith, leadership, and positive community involvement. Through service, fellowship, and outreach, S3 empowers students to be difference-makers in their schools and neighborhoods.

An Ice Cream Social will be held Sunday, August 17, from 1:00p until 4:00p, at Harrisburg School, Highway B west of Plain. Sundaes, Pie and Ice Cream will be served. Come and explore the school and museum.

Shake Rage Alley Center for the Arts will host a reading of One Time by Richard Conlon Sunday, August 17, at 4:00p, followed by a talkback and reception at the Art Cafe. Rain space is the Sardeson Studio.  Richard Conlon is a proud Lifetime Member of the Dramatists Guild and Resident Playwright Alum at Chicago Dramatists where his social satire, 7 Minutes to Live, received an extended-run world premiere last August.
