D.C. Everest stays unbeaten in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, Tomahawk remains atop the Great Northern Conference and Stratford keeps rolling in the CWC-Large to highlight the central Wisconsin High School football action from Friday night.
In the Wisconsin Valley Conference, Corbin Enzenroth ran for 157 yards on 30 carries with 2 touchdowns as D.C. Everest wins for the third straight week by beating Marshfield 37-15. Xavier Edwards caught just two passes for the Evergreens but they were both for touchdowns and 65 yards total. Everest is now 3-2 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the WVC.
Also in the WVC it was a nailbiter at Thom Field as Wausau West stopped a Wisconsin Rapids two-point conversion attempt with :13 left in the 4th quarter and held on for a 14-12 win in a game broadcast on 98.9 WXCO. Miles Waldvogel had 77 yards rushing on 17 carries and a touchdown while Shea Jones caught three passes for 53 yards and a score for West (3-2 overall, 2-1 WVC). Rapids falls to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the league despite a 352-196 edge in yards and 95 yards rushing from Sawyer Brooks.
Stevens Point falls for the first time in 2025 as unbeaten Hudson came to Goerke Field and hands the Panthers a 24-14 defeat in a non-conference crossover game. Cooper Adair had 140 yards passing and 93 yards rushing for Hudson (5-0, 2-0 Big Rivers Conference) while SPASH quarterback Trent Breitbach hit on 14 of 29 passes for 169 yards and a TD but falls to 4-1 overall.
The other Wisconsin Valley Conference game had Eau Claire North edge crosstown rival Eau Claire Memorial 24-21 for the Huskies second straight win. North is now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the WVC while Memorial falls to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the league.
In the Great Northern Conference there was only one game on Friday after the other six teams played on Thursday night. Tomahawk continues their surprising start with a fifth straight win to start the season, 49-7 on the road in Rhinelander. Cash Olsen didn’t throw a lot for the Hatchets but was very efficient by hitting 4 of 6 passes for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns. He added two more touchdowns on the ground with 68 yards rushing. Tiegan Sarazin 131 yards rushing on 5 attempts while Jett Reilly caught 2 passes for 75 yards and a TD. The Tomahawk defense was just as good as they held Rhinelander scoreless. The lone Hodags’ touchdown came on a fumble return for a score. Tomahawk is 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the GNC while Rhinelander falls to 2-3 and 1-2.
In the CWC-Large it was a battle of unbeatens in Loyal as Loyal/Greenwood hosted Amherst. It was Amherst who remains perfect after a 34-12 win. Amherst is 5-0 and 3-0 in the CWC-Large while L-G falls to 4-1 and 2-1.
Stratford is also 3-0 in the league after winning 43-14 at Weyauwega-Fremont. Stratford is 3-2 overall after starting their season off with non-conference losses to Mosinee and Edgar. W-F is also 3-2 overall but drops to 1-2 in the conference.
Marathon earns their first CWC-Large win of the season with a 40-0 victory at Colby. The game was called in the fourth quarter because of storms. True Thurs was 7 of 9 passing with 212 yards and 2 touchdowns while adding 52 yards on 9 carries and 2 more touchdowns on the ground. Garrett Bracewell caught 3 passes for 87 yards and a TD for Marathon, now 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the CWC-Large. Colby is 1-4 and 0-3 in the league.
Spencer/Columbus surprises Wittenberg-Birnamwood 27-8 to win their first conference game of the season. Spencer/Columbus is now 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the CWC-Large while Witt-Birn falls to 2-3 as well and 1-2 in the league.
In the Marawood/CWC Abbotsford wins for the fourth straight week as the Falcons topped 36-6. Chase Boller ran for 113 yards and 3 touchdowns to lift Abbotsford (4-1, 3-0 Marawood/CWC). Assumption saw their 2-game win streak end and are now 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
Pacelli Catholic holds off Iola-Scandinavia 27-20 as Bryce Flaker ran the ball 27 times for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns and added 2 receptions for 60 yards and 1 TD. Pacelli is now 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the Marawood/CWC while Iola-Scandinavia falls to 1-4 and 0-3.
In 8-Player football it was an offensive shootout as Marion-Tigerton tops Newman Catholic 48-38 in a game heard on 98.9 WXCO. It was a game that featured nine touchdowns on the first nine possessions of the game. It was 24-20 M-T after one quarter and 36-32 at halftime. Thundercatz running back Braylon Mielke recorded 340 yards rushing and 5 TD’s to help Marion-Tigerton win improve to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the CW-8. Griffin Puent had 7 catches for 108 yards and 2 TD for the Cardinals (3-2 overall and 2-2 CW-8).
Also in the CW-8 it was Tri-County staying unbeaten with a 22-14 win over Almond-Bancroft.
Athens is now 4-1 in 8-Player football after the Blue Jays beat Hurley 30-0. Kamden Zarnke ran for 78 yards and threw for 64 more for Athens. Brock Beaty added 3 catches for 38 yards and a touchdown.
